Ferries : Baja Guide : Travel : Home

Taking one of the ferries from the mainland to Baja is an adventure. If you are coming from the eastern USA, the ferry is going to be part of your trip. But during El Nino years the massive rains in Baja Norte can wipe out long sections of the Mex. 1. In this case, your choices are to take an extended vacation or to take the ferry to the mainland and take the roundabout way back to the west coast via the ferry and the Mexican mainland. So be sure to take this information with you and maps covering the mainland.

Dean reports: The new ferry is spectacular, also driving the mainland side is very relaxing, 4 lanes divided highway 95% of the way. Not one mountain grade or dangerous blind curve. and services and hotels everywhere.

Also coming from Northern California or farther north the distance is identical. The difference is you drive on USA roads for 500 of the 1000
mile drive.

For people from Vegas east it saves us 500 miles. With the price of gas it
almost pays for the ferry if a big truck.

Addresses and Phone Numbers are below but they are subject to change so check the the ferry website for the most current information.

Central reservations number to use if local numbers do not work:
