.an upper level low pressure system diving southeast through 
california will bring strong northwest winds over the coastal
waters sunday night through monday night. winds will mostly be
between 20 and 30 knots, but some wind gusts could approach gale 
force near san clemente island monday into monday evening. 
moderately high swells from the west-northwest will combine with 
the wind waves and bring seas around 10 feet in the outer coastal

the national weather service in san diego has issued a small
craft advisory...which is in effect from 2 pm sunday to 2 am pst
tuesday. 

* winds...northwest 20 to 30 knots with highest winds monday into
  monday evening. local gusts approaching 35 knots in the outer 
  coastal waters monday into monday evening.

* waves/seas...seas building to 8 to 10 feet in the outer coastal
  waters monday and continuing monday night. periods will mostly
  be 10 seconds or less, resulting in choppy seas.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

a small craft advisory means that wind speeds of 21 to 33 knots
are expected to produce hazardous wave conditions to small craft.
inexperienced mariners...especially those operating smaller
vessels should avoid navigating in these conditions.
