...winds and blowing dust return to the area on sunday...

.a strong upper trough moving in from the pacific northwest will
sweep across northern new mexico sunday afternoon. winds will
increase sunday morning and continue through the afternoon into
the early evening hours before diminishing. blowing dust will also
develop along much of the desert lowlands, though a cool front
moving through early in the afternoon may end the blowing dust.
the upper trough could also bring a few morning showers to the
gila uplands.

...wind advisory in effect from noon to 8 pm mdt sunday...

the national weather service in el paso tx/santa teresa has
issued a wind advisory, which is in effect from noon to 8 pm mdt

* event...strong winds of 25 to 35 mph. gusts of 40 to 50 mph,
  strongest along east slopes of mountains. 

* timing...winds will increase in the morning and reach their
  strongest speeds from early afternoon until around sunset.

* impacts...strong cross winds will make handling of vehicles
  difficult at times. blowing dust over desert areas will create
  poor visibilities, especially along i-10 corridor west of las

precautionary/preparedness actions...

a wind advisory means that winds of 35 mph are expected. winds
this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high
profile vehicles. use extra caution.

* timing...strong winds will develop sunday afternoon and continue
  through the early evening. periods of strong winds will remain 
  possible sunday night through early monday morning.

* winds...southwest from 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 55 mph,
  becoming west and northwest at 20 to 30 mph sunday night.

* impacts...blowing dust will severely limit visibilities near
  open fields. strong crosswinds will be hazardous to motorists.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

a wind advisory means that sustained winds of 30 to 39 mph are
expected. adjust travel and outdoor activities accordingly.
