The launch, Berkeley Island County Park, is a grass/dirt parking lot across the road from Trixie's landing. Swells out in Barnegat Bay can get quite large. However, this stretch of water is well-protected so rarely does one encounter more than small swells and chop. While this flat-water is well suited for beginners, the bottom falls off quickly. Those who want a bottom for jumping back on the board during uphauling or positioning the board for waterstarts, may want to check out beaches on Long Beach Island which have shallower water.

For Trixie's Landing, take Exit 80 off the Garden State Parkway. Follow Route 9 south for 6.6 miles and observe sign for Trixie's Landing on your right. Turn left and follow the main road to the water (makes a few sharp turns). Parking is in the dirt lot, Berkeley Island County Park, across from Trixie's.

The sensor is located on Trixie's Landing which is on the mainland side of Barnegat Bay. If you sail the island side at Seaside or Lavallette, bear in mind that offshore winds at Trixie's are onshore at Seaside and vice versa. This is most apparent in the summer during southwesterly thermals which are usually side-offshore at Trixie's, but side-onshore at Seaside. Given the superior fetch under these conditions, you can count on better winds at Seaside than those reported at Trixie's. If the wind is out of the west, Brant Beach might be a better indicator for the islands.
