1001 am est mon jan 23 2017

...a flood warning remains in effect until 145 pm est monday for
central cabarrus county...

* at 957 am est, reporting gauges indicate significant rises
approaching flood stage on the rocky river and its tributaries.
the high water levels will continue as runoff from earlier heavy
  rainfall moves downstream.

* continued runnoff will cause the river to continue to rise. a
crest of 16.5 feet is possible in the next couple hours. this
would cause flooding on pharr mill road. flood waters may also
approach stallings road and mount pleasant road.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

most flood deaths occur in vehicles. do not attempt to cross
water-covered roadways, bridges, or low-level crossings. only a few
inches of rapidly flowing water can carry away your vehicle. it is
not worth the risk. please turn around, don't drown.
