  the big creek near cumming.
* until further notice.
* at 345 am thursday the stage was 6.5 feet...and 
  rising.
* minor flooding is occurring.
* flood stage is 6.0 feet.
* at 7.0 feet...minor flooding continues to expand into the natural 
  flood plain of the creek upstream and downstream from the gage at 
  atlanta highway or georgia highway 9. large portions of the 
  sidewalk and boardwalk of the big creek greenway will be flooded. 
  the areas under the georgia 400 highway and mcfarland road will be 
  covered with around two feet of water. a portion of the sidewalk 
  under majors road will be covered with around 3 feet of water.

* at 400 am thursday the stage was 13.6 feet...and 
  nearly steady.
* minor flooding is occurring.
* flood stage is 13.0 feet.
* the river will begin to fall to below flood stage late this 
  morning.
* at 14.0 feet...moderate flooding begins in northwest forsyth 
  county. old federal road begins to flood and nicholson road is 
  closed off to residents. minor flooding continues in south dawson 
  county.

* at 600 am thursday the stage was 575.8 feet...and 
  rising.
* moderate flooding is occurring.
* flood stage is 570.0 feet.
* at 575.0 feet...moderate flooding begins. significant flooding 
  occurs in the woodlands...fields and pasture along the river 
  upstream and downstream from the gage behind plant hammond. the 
  access road near the intakes behind the plant will be under two 
  feet of water. the boat ramp near the intakes and a small portion 
  of an access road near and under the georgia highway 100 bridge 
  will be under 5 feet of water.

continues for
  the oostanaula river near rome us hwy. 27.
* until friday evening.
* at 545 am thursday the stage was 26.5 feet...and 
  rising slowly.
* minor flooding is occurring.
* flood stage is 25.0 feet.
* the river will continue rising to near 26.9 feet by this evening. 
  the river will fall below flood stage friday afternoon.
* at 25.0 feet...flood stage is reached. minor flooding occurs in the
  woodlands and fields along the river upstream and downstream from 
  the gage on the turner mccall bridge or u.s. highway 27. the 
  heritage park rome greenway continues to flood with some locations 
  up to 5 feet deep. all drainage valves must be closed at the 
  outfalls in rome. the flood gate on the rome levee should be

  the big creek near alpharetta.
* until late saturday night.
* at 445 am thursday the stage was 9.2 feet...and 
  nearly steady.
* minor flooding is occurring.
* flood stage is 7.0 feet.
* the river will continue to rise to near 9.7 feet later this morning. 
  the river will fall below flood stage saturday evening.
* at 10.0 feet...minor flooding expands along the creek from near 
  cumming to alpharetta and roswell. backyards of homes off seale 
  drive and gunter court and portions of the golf of georgia are 
  under a foot of water. the big creek greenway experiences 
  significant flooding up to 4 feet deep with closure of the paths. 
  this especially occurs upstream and downstream from the gage on 
  kimball bridge road and rock mill park. a large portion of the ymca
  campground off preston ridge road will be under a two feet of 
  water.

the national weather service in greenville-spartanburg has extended
the

* flood advisory for...
  central habersham county in northeastern georgia...

* until 930 am est.

* at 522 am est, doppler radar indicated heavy rain that will cause 
  minor flooding in the advisory area. the stream gauge on the soque 
  river at ga 197 near clarkesville is reporting a height of 12.51 
  feet. action stage is 11.0 feet.

* some locations that will experience flooding include...
  clarkesville. at 12.0 feet, the soque river may overflow its banks 
  and flood pitts city park with up to a foot of water.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

landslides flowing over roads or threatening property to the national

life and property. do not drive cars through flooded areas. if you 
see flood waters...remember to turn around and do not drown.

* at  8:00 pm wednesday the stage was 18.6 feet.
* minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* flood stage is 17.0 feet.
* forecast...the river will continue to fall to a stage of 18.3 feet 
  by friday morning.
* impact...at 18.0 feet...water begins to flood river run road in 
  suwannee county. 
* impact...at 17.0 feet...water begins to enter backyards of 
  residences on santa fe road in columbia county and on river run 
  road in suwannee county. 
* impact...at 16.2 feet...florida fish and wildlife commission begins 
  enforcement of a no wake zone on the santa fe river from the 
  unnamed island 1.5 miles downstream of the wilson's spring boat 
  ramp to the confluence with the suwannee river and on the 
  ichetucknee river upstream to the us 27 bridge.
* impact...at 16.0 feet...lowland flooding begins on sw santa fe drive
  south of santa fe road in columbia county.
