this evening...
...beach hazards statement in effect from 8 am edt this morning
through this evening...

* what...for the lakeshore flood advisory, minor lakeshore
  flooding. for the beach hazards statement, hazardous swimming
  conditions expected.

* where...huron, sanilac and st. clair counties.

* when...for the lakeshore flood advisory, until 10 pm edt this 
  evening. for the beach hazards statement, from 8 am edt this 
  morning through this evening.

* impacts...some water on low lying roads and property along the
  lakeshore. high waves will contribute to shoreline flooding and
  erosion in addition to causing an increased risk of rip
  currents.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

residents on or near the shore should take appropriate action to
protect property from rising water levels.

remain out of the water to avoid hazardous swimming conditions.

...lakeshore flood advisory in effect until 10 pm edt tuesday...

* what...intensified shoreline flooding due to onshore wind and
  high waves. 

* where...huron, sanilac and st. clair counties.

* when...until 10 pm edt tuesday.

* impacts...added flooding and erosion of prone areas along the 
  lakeshore.

* additional details... cool north wind of moderate intensity
  continues tonight through tuesday and into tuesday night. the
  duration of the long fetch across central and southern leads to
  high waves and elevated water level compared to recent
  undisturbed conditions. 

precautionary/preparedness actions...

residents on or near the shore should take appropriate action to
protect property from rising water levels.

evening...

* what...high wave action, strong currents, and dangerous 
  swimming conditions expected. piers may be heavily swamped by 
  waves.

* where...muskegon, ottawa, allegan, and van buren counties.

* when...through tuesday evening.

* impacts...strong currents can pull swimmers into deeper water 
  and high waves can sweep people off piers.

* additional details...northerly winds of 15 to 25 knots over lake
  michigan will generate waves of 3 to 6 feet from today through  
  tuesday evening. waves of this height are dangerous to swimmers.
  particularly dangerous beaches will be those on the north sides
  of north piers like holland state park and muskegon state park.
  colder water will become more prevalent along the shore the 
  next couple days with water temperatures potentially dropping 
  into the 40s in spots.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

remain out of the water to avoid hazardous swimming conditions
and do not venture out on piers. please check with your local
authorities on potential beach closures.
