open lake forecast for lake michigan
national weather service milwaukee/sullivan wi
921 pm cst fri dec 6 2024

for waters beyond five nautical miles of shore on lake michigan.

waves are provided as a range of significant wave heights, which
is the average of the highest 1/3 of the wave, along with the
average height of the highest 10% of the waves which will
occasionally be encountered.

.synopsis...

high pressure around 30.5 inches over the middle and lower
mississippi valley will gradually shift to the gulf coast states
by saturday night. a slight ridge from this high will allow for
southwesterly winds to diminish overnight.

low pressure around 29.4 inches then sinks into the northern
great lakes region on saturday, leading to increasing
southwesterly winds and potential for gales saturday afternoon
into saturday night. a gale watch is in effect for this time
period across the southern half of the lake. the northern half may
see lighter winds, due to the center of low pressure passing
nearby.

winds will diminish by sunday morning, with a series of low
pressure systems in the northern great lakes producing
intermittent periods of breezy winds into early next week.

open lake forecast for lake michigan
national weather service milwaukee/sullivan wi
