Assateague Overview
This meter is located on private property some distance from the public kiting area. It will generally read higher on southerly directions than the public launch at the park. At Assateague National Park there is a very small beach area to launch on the bayside just after the gated "fee area" entrance. $30 year round parking pass or $15 7 day pass (2010) Once through the gate make a right towards the bayside canoe rental area. If it's blowin' kites will be showin'. Plenty of parking, bathrooms, small bayside beach launch area, a few picnic tables & grills. For accomodations, Francis Scott Key Family Resort is managed by local kiters Jim & Annemarie.
