Oka National State Park is located on the Lac des Deux-Montagnes, on the north-west side of Montreal. Primary a nature interpretation center, the park has year-round activities such as cross-country skiing in the winter, hiking, biking camping and, of course, windsurfing. The main windsurfing access is at "La Crête". There is plenty parking, rigging area right from your car, toilets, showers and nice beach. The atmosphere is friendly and family oriented and is a fun destination to bring along non-windsurfers. There is a daily access fee of $8.75/person + 8,48 $ / Automobile .Automobile parking fee applicable only days with lifeguards at the main beach (site called L'Istorlet ) and year-round access pass is available too.
The best wind direction is west, but anything from a south-west to a north-west wind is sailable. The beach shore has a large shallow water area, so Oka is the best spot for beginners in the Montreal region. It has lately become a favourite among Kite surfers.
Water floods in the spring can force the authorities to close access to "La Crête", so it is best to check with the park (450-479-8365) before heading to Oka. Also, there is a large rock that emerge well above water level most of the time but may be hidden early in spring and late fall when the water level is high, so be careful and ask a local if in doubt. A weed fin may be useful in the summer.
Windsurfers should be aware that windsurfing or kiting in the Oka State Park is a privilege, not a right. So keep it cool with the gas pedal and park your vehicle on designated area only.

From Montreal, take highway 13 or 15 north and exit at the highway 640 west. Head west until the end of the highway, continue straight into the park, turn left at the end of the road, pay your access fee and turn right at "La Crête".
