is the average of the highest 1/3 of the wave, along with the
average height of the highest 10% of the waves which will
occasionally be encountered.

.synopsis...

conditions across the lake have deteriorated and dense fog is
widespread again tonight. a marine dense fog advisory is in effect
for the entire lake tonight. 

high pressure of 30.1 inches will continue to build into the 
region through tonight, bringing light northerly winds to the 
lake. that high will slowly progress east into new england and the
canadian maritimes through wednesday. meanwhile, an elongated 
trough of low pressure averaging 29.5 inches will form across the
central and northern great plains. together, this will result in 
south to southeast flow across lake michigan through at least mid 
week.
