...strong northeast winds this morning...

.a cold front will drop south from canada across western lake 
superior this morning causing winds to rapidly change to be out 
of the northeast and quickly increase to 15 to 25 knots with a few
gale-force gusts to 35 knots possible with the initial frontal 
passage. these strong winds will also cause increasing wave 
heights as high as 6 to 9 feet for ice free areas mainly south of 
grand marais. the wind will then gradually decrease through the 
day sunday.
