.showers with isolated thunderstorms will lift into the 
saginaw valley this evening and tonight.  rainfall 
amounts of a half inch or less are expected during this 
time.

  saginaw river at saginaw. 
* from now until further notice. 
* at 10 am wednesday the stage is 17.2 feet and falling.
* flood stage is 17.0 feet.
* minor flooding is occurring.
* forecast...the river should fall below flood stage this afternoon.

...the national weather service in green bay has issued a flood 
advisory for the menominee river...

  menominee river near kingsford and big quinnesec affecting 
  dickinson...florence and marinette counties
  

recent and expected additional rainfall continue to support high flows 
on area rivers and streams.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

caution is advised along riverbank. although below flood stage, flows are 
above normal and could be a hazard to boaters and other recreational 
interests along the river.

  the menominee river near kingsford
* at 4:10 pm tuesday the flow was 6974 cfs.
* impacts at 8000 cfs. flows at this rate downstream from the 
  kingsford dam may impact some shoreline structures.

* flood advisory for
  the menominee river near big quinnesec falls dam
* at 4:10 pm tuesday the flow was 7967 cfs.
* impacts at 10000 cfs. flow is fast.  property owners should protect
  shoreline equipment. 
* impacts at 5000 cfs. while flooding is not expected...rivers flows 
  are high or expected to increase. recreational interests should 
  monitor the river.  property owners adjacent to the river should 
  consider protecting shoreline equipment including docks piers and 
  boats.

...the flood advisory is cancelled for the following river in 
southwest lower michigan...

  pine river at alma affecting gratiot county

...the flood advisory continues for the following rivers in southwest
lower michigan...

  chippewa river below mt pleasant affecting isabella county

.the pine and chippewa rivers continue to fall at a steady pace.
the pine river has dropped below advisory, while the chippewa river
may drop below advisory levels later this afternoon or evening.

rainfall is still expected to enter the region tonight. basin
averages should remain manageable for rivers to handle. the
exception will be localized areas of heavier rainfall, which should
only have any real impact on low lying areas with poor drainage.
little impact is expected to both rivers, if forecast amounts fall.
rivers should continue to improve through thursday, before the next
round of rainfall enters lower michigan on friday. friday's event
will require monitoring with high ground moisture and sensitivity to
an prolonged periods of heavier rain.

the following forecast is based on observed and forecast 24 hour
precipitation.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

safety message...caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.

a flood advisory means minor flooding is possible and rivers are 
forecast to exceed bankfull.  if you are in the advisory area remain 
alert to possible flooding...or the possibility of the advisory being
upgraded to a warning.  report observed flooding to local emergency 
services or law enforcement and request they pass this information on
to the national weather service.

  the chippewa river below mt pleasant
* until sunday morning.
* at 11 am wednesday the stage was 6.2 feet.
* bankfull stage is 6.0 feet.
* flood stage is 8.0 feet.
* forecast, the river is expected to continue to fall.
* impact, at 6.0 feet...river is bankfull. expect minor flooding of 
  low lying areas adjacent to the river including portions of the 
  mount pleasant country club golf course.
