.synopsis...
high pressure 30.80 inches over the red river valley will expand
over the great lakes region today. this area of high pressure will
remain influential over the region as it moves slowly southeast to
the tennessee valley by saturday and then off the southeast u.s. 
coast by sunday. on sunday night, low pressure 29.50 inches will
develop over the central plains and move northeast towards the
lower great lakes for monday and tuesday.

modest northwest winds will continue over lake michigan today, as
high pressure around 30.9 inches pushes southeast across iowa. 
this high will continue towards the southeast united states into 
the weekend. brisk southwest winds will develop friday into 
friday night. there is a high likelihood of gales friday 
afternoon and evening mainly across the northern half of the 
lake, but will extend to to the southern half as well,
particularly into the evening. thus the gale watch has been
expanded to include the entire lake. the southwest winds will 
then gradually lessen from late friday night through the weekend.
