waves are the significant wave height - the average of the highest
1/3 of the wave spectrum. occasional wave height is the average of
the highest 1/10 of the wave spectrum.

.synopsis...a 29.5 inch surface low draped across the upper
mississippi valley will gradually fill to 29.8 inches as it moves
to james bay by late tuesday. an elongated 29.8 inch low will 
then develop over the eastern us tuesday night, then will deepen 
to 29.1 inches as it tracks across new england and into southern 
quebec wednesday and wednesday night. a 29.7 inch trough will 
then slowly cross the lake thursday, then a 30.7 inch high will 
build across the mid-atlantic states friday.

today, led by the system's surface warm front. expect widespread
rain, with snow near the straits eventually changing to rain,
too. low pressure tracks over lake superior then moves northeast
into ontario/quebec late tonight and tuesday which drives the
surface cold front through the central great lakes. colder air
then filters in through the rest of the week with periods of lake
effect snow wednesday through friday.
