waves are the significant wave height - the average of the
highest 1/3 of the wave spectrum. occasional wave height is the
average of the highest 1/10 of the wave spectrum.

.synopsis...a 29.2 inch low pressure in northern manitoba is still
heading towards hudson bay this afternoon while dragging a 29.6 
inch trough over the northern plains. this trough is expected to 
move east tonight, eventually crossing lake superior monday
afternoon into tuesday morning. behind this trough, a 30.3 inch 
ridge of high pressure is expected to move into the northern 
plains tuesday evening and then into the upper great lakes on 
wednesday. this ridge should persist into thursday, weakening to 
around 30.1 inches by thursday evening. by friday, a 29.6 inch low
pressure over southern hudson bay should bring a trough of at
least 29.9 inches across lake superior.
