waves are the significant wave height - the average of the
highest 1/3 of the wave spectrum. occasional wave height is the
average of the highest 1/10 of the wave spectrum.

.synopsis...a low pressure system at 29.3 inches over lake 
winnipeg tonight is supporting an approaching trough at 29.7 
inches over northwestern minnesota. this trough will slowly sweep 
eastward tonight into tuesday, weakening as it does so, with 
another trough of 29.5 inches crossing the southern plains 
simultaneously. tuesday night, the latter trough will be 
traversing the midwest and into the upper great lakes, deepening 
to 29.3 inches. this low will continue deepening as it approaches 
james bay late wednesday. in its wake, a 30.5 inch ridge will 
build in, with pressure of around 30.3 inches extending into the 
upper great lakes by thursday. the pattern will be progressive 
through week's end, with a 29.7 inch trough moving in behind the 
continuously moving ridge. the next ridge looks to build in next 
weekend, reaching 30.3 inches locally.

35 knots by midnight, then backing west late. snow, possibly
