Readings will be best for Northeast at this site. Other directions may be
blocked to varying degrees by development around the SeaTow dock. There is access to a rocky beach through a small town park at the back of the Dock & Dine Restaurant. Beware of rapid tidal flow, heavy boat traffic, and confused low chop. Falling tide makes for a tough trip home or a quick trip to Long Island. Lots of
large boats follow a channel that squeezes close to the launch, but shallow water on the far side of the river offers clear sailing if you can get there. Definitely not a beginner spot, but one of the few good locations in the general area for Northeast through Nortwest winds.
