South Pt Overview
As reported by a long-time local....south point on the big island of Hawaii is a small rocky bay accessible by 4 wheel drive only, no houses for miles and very difficult to find. If you look at the charts you will see that it is the windiest place in the Hawaiian islands. It is a side offshore with a nice left break, the unique thing here is if you go about 1/4 mile offshore you will encounter some of the most intense sailing imaginable. 20 foot swells are the norm. Your own personal roller coaster. This place is for the most advanced sailors only as there is no chance of rescue and out side of the bay the "shore" is a lava cliff 10 to 30 feet high for miles in both directions.
