A narrow spit of land separates Ninigret Pond from the ocean. Thus, you get the strength and consistency of ocean winds in a "lake setting," making Ninigret a very popular sailing spot. Parking is limited, with parking for only 50 cars or so including beach goers.

Flat water, ocean winds -- a great combination
Limited parking: $8 weekdays, $10 weekends, half price for residents

Follow Route 138-E and take exit 3A off Route I-95 to Route 112-S. Follow Route 112-S to Route 1-S. After 4.5 miles, you'll see a sign for East Beach Road. Follow East Beach Road to where it enters the park. From points south, take Route 78 around Westerly to Route 1-N. Take the East Beach Road exit off Route 1.

This sensor was moved again late Summer of '07. This new location is right on the water South of Ninigret Pond. The readings read true in all northerly directions but East to ESE comes around nearby houses in those directions. South winds come cleanly onto the sensor but the structure we are on is on the Pond side of the land strip thus south winds may be slightly higher than readings show.
