a very busy period of winds and waves is in store over lake
michigan through thursday morning. ultimately, low pressure of
29.4 inches will move out of the canadian plains to north of lake
superior by wednesday, deepening to 29.1 inches as it joins with a
low pressure of 29.5 inches that will move out of colorado today
to the upper great lakes by wednesday. gusty southerlies are
expected late this afternoon into tonight as a warm front moves
over the lake. winds may ease slightly overnight, but then another
maximum of southerly winds is expected tuesday afternoon as the 
low pressure systems join together. these winds may approach gale 
force tuesday afternoon and night. the low pressure system will
then quickly race northeast, dragging a cold front with it.

strong winds are then expected wednesday behind the cold front, 
with west- northwest gales continuing through wednesday into early
thursday. a gale watch has been issued from noon tuesday to 6am 
thursday, to cover the two potential periods of gales.
