to around 29.7 inches. strong northerly winds will continue 
across lake michigan today due to the low pressure system. peak 
gales up to 40 kt will occur this morning for the whole lake, then
gradually ease from north to south this afternoon and evening. 
high waves will continue as well, especially across central and 
southern portions of the lake.

after a brief period of lighter winds, southerly winds will 
increase friday afternoon ahead of low pressure trough around 29.6
inches over upper michigan and northern wisconsin. there is a 
chance for southerly gales as the trough swings across lake

replace a 30.1 inch ridge over superior today with a 29.9 inch 
trough. as this low lifts north towards james bay on friday, a 
secondary trough will approach western superior from the northwest
at 29.8 inches friday night. this trough will linger over the 
great lakes through the weekend as 30.1 inch high pressure remains
to the south over the appalachians.
