Canandaigua Lake, the fourth largest of the Finger Lakes, is sailed primarily in the prevailing southerlies. The launch in Kershaw Park at the northern end of the lake has a sandy bottom that is waist-deep for 200 yards, a grass rigging area, and nice picnic facilities. The renovated facilities at Kershaw now include a "Small Craft Launch Area" complete with a sign listing buoy information. In addition, there is no longer any parking fee at Kershaw.

Kiting in this area is difficult due to the great number of obstructions for launching and landing your kite.

 Season: May-September
Ability Level: Good Beginner spot - wind surfing
Familiness: great place for the family
 Launch: grass rigging, sandy launch

Take Exit 44 off Route I-90, then follow Route 332 south to Canandaigua. Stay straight out of town heading south util you bend around to the east. Park is all along the north end of the lake.

The sensor is located on Canandaigua Sailboards and provides good southerly readings. As the wind clocks around to the east, readings degrade. Due east readings are either marginal or useless.
