Sandbar State Park is easily accessible (parking lot is right off route 2) and the preferred launch for nor'westers, northerlies, and nor'easters. The water is shallow near shore and the bottom sandy. There is also plenty of parking and an expansive grass area for rigging. So this is a perfect place for beginners and lessons. For this reason Inland Sea Windsurf has a rental site here. For family outings, there is also a food concession, play ground, and paddle boat rental. So there's plenty for the kids while you sail. Post-Labor Day, the park closes the gate but does not lock it so that windsurfers may continue sailing. If you arrive at the gate and find it closed, don't panic: just lift up the metal latch and open the gate... please close it behind you. If it's late in the season and you're not sure whether the gate has been locked yet. Just across from the entrance to Sandbar State Park is a dirt parking lot for the Lamoille River/Sandbar Wildlife Management Area (WMA). This free lot is open year 'round and is a good south-facing complement to the above Inland Sea Windsurf launch, but not without hazards (please see White's Beach for more details).  Familiness: great place for the family

Take 89 north out of Burlington to exit 17 (10 miles) and head west on route 2. After four miles watch for the signs for the park. Inland Sea rental and launch is at the eastern end of the park.

The sensor has a clear fetch in all the northerly directions. Due east and due west winds (sideshore) may be quite blocked. While we thought the southerly readings would similarly be blocked, we have seen some good southerly readings from this meter. So these may prove more useful than initially anticipated. Nonetheless, for the best southerly and westerly readings, use the companion meter at White's Beach.
